Dashed Daydreams

21 Mar

So excited when I saw this. I envisioned it in my loft. Friends over, sitting, laughing, cocktails, movie night with Thomas,…..

…..and then my dreams were dashed!

It had to have been in some formal living room, covered in plastic, since it was brought home. PERFECT. Went to the counter, I told the lady I wanted it….someone had just bought them. They literally just seconds before paid for it.

So I just went and took pictures, then tried to buy it off the man who purchased it. No luck….at least it was cheaper this way and I didn’t have to haul them and carry them up my stairs.

Couldn’t wait for Autumn

20 Mar

I’ve been severely under the weather for the past week. Like, could barely get out of bed sick. So I have tons of errands to catch up on. I’m still not quite up to snuff, but better. I refuse to go out looking like I actually feel, and I know wearing pretty things makes me feel better, even if it’s merely an illusion. So the focal point of today’s outfit is a fun late 50’s early 60’s batik print dress with a fantastic scalloped edge running around the collar and down the front. (I really bought it to wear this Autumn.) I paired it with an orangey-red straw hat, geometric plastic beaded necklace, brown leather belt, my new favorite cat-eyed shades and 60’s wedge shoes. I’m still on the lookout for coloured Bakelite bangles to pair with this. Since it’s such a busy print, I didn’t want to wear a brooch.

Leopard for Life

30 Jan

Today is super nice, especially for January. It’s 54F and not a cloud in the sky! I had some errands to run today, and being one of the most mundane tasks it seemed like leopard print anything would help. So to carry on, since I couldn’t just wrap myself in the satin leopard print sheets I snoozed on, I pranced around today in my favorite Steve Madden heels. Seeing as my shoes were “wild”, I just paired them with one of my vintage LBDs.

Not having a tripod or a photographer…you get mirror shots with a phone.

Leopard Love!

Loving the neckline detail….

…and it has POCKETS!

Necklace – F21

LBD – Thifted

Shoes – Steve Madden

Do you have your eye on anything special in my shop. Let me know in the comments and I might just feature it.

A new year, a new beginning

13 Jan

We are half way into January and many people I know are fumbling through their resolutions. This is why I don’t usually commit myself to such things. However, this year, I have decided to make a few. They are more of a lifestyle change as opposed to a resolution to be broken.

• Find a true focus for my blog.
-I dabble in a bit of this and a bit of that. I’ve not quite nailed down “my place” in the blogosphere. I love the vintage life, but I’m always excited to share my knowledge on many topics. Either way, I would like to blog on a schedule. We’ll see.

• Create.
– I am an artist at heart. My interests in art are quite varied and constantly changing. Vintage is an art, and one of my passions, but I paint, sew, craft, write, cook & bake, take photos….and I’m sure a few other things. I seem, however, to neglect actually finishing most projects I begin, leaving a trail behind me as something new catches my eye. I want to complete something and feel the thrill of that accomplishment.

• Be healthy.
– Yes, this hopefully will result in weight loss, as my weight is currently unhealthy for my height. (According to IBW scale I should be around 98-112lbs…I laugh) But essentially, it’s just go to the gym, have a set sleeping schedule & watching my portions. I have a bodymedia armband, and when I was using it I LOVED it. I’ll try to get a post out this weekend on that.

• Take more photo & get prints.
– I thoroughly enjoy photography, yet I neglect to frame any, they just live as memories on my computer. I want to surround myself with images of the people and life I love.

I think those are all reasonable and attainable. In the coming months, I’ll update as to my progress.

Cheery Cherries for a gloomy day

3 Jan

Since mid-December it has been overcast and rainy 1 out of every three days. (My statistics here are arbitrary, mind you). I had to do something to counteract the gloomy vibes today so I decided to don my cherry hat. I’ve not had a chance to wear it, so seemed like the perfect opportunity! Cherries are an instant pick-me-up!
